Tank's Story

Tee was found late one night on Hwy 277 between Abilene and San Angelo, Texas, where he had been run over and had sustained a broken back. Dr. Linda Hohmann at Angelo Animal Hospital provided the initial medical care and subsequently was his primary care veterinarian for the next 15 years.
When asked about where to take Tank for his precarious condition, Carole Sanders (Animal Angels Texas) immediately recommended DVSC so that's where he was taken. Dr. Darryl E. McDonald, former surgeon at DVSC in Dallas, TX, repaired his broken spine by placing a device along the spine and attaching them together. When the broken spine healed he was good as new. He loved to chase the deer and wild turkeys of West Texas!
Prior to surgery x-rays showed that Tank had been shot, three shotgun pellets in his left rear quarter and years later it was found that he also had another pellet embedded in his lower jaw.
Tank lived a very full life and was only partially effected by arthritis in his later years. He was over 100 years old in human years when he finally came to the end of his life on March 21st, 2016.
It was estimated that his birth date was about February 9th, 1999.
